Hello,
The database that manages hosting operations is currently non-responsive. This means that the following hosting operations are temporarily unavailable: creations, reboots, installation of new packages, the addition/removal of shares, etc...
This situation will not prevent your servers from running.
Our technicians are currently working on this problem and we will keep you informed as to our progress in real-time. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
Sincerely,
The Gandi Team
UPDATE 11:19 (CET): The incident is closed and the platform is running normally at present. Thank you for your patience.

We are quickly nearing the end of the beta testing phase, and this means that we will soon be announcing the grand opening of our web hosting service!
This means that we are going to proceed with several updates of our infrastructure. These updates will unfortunately cause some minor disruptions (loss of connection, suspended operations, etc...) for all the Gandi servers.
These updates will occur at various times (day and night) and will last between 15 seconds and 60 minutes depending on the nature of the operation.
We cannot provide you with an exact schedule of when the operations will be performed, as you will surely not even notice the majority of them and also as we need to maintain some flexibility in their implementation.
The change in the server storage architecture, as well as other network improvements (which we will speak of soon) means that we need to perform this migration, and these frequent updates.
Of course, we will assure that these updates will be performed with as little interruption in service as possible, and let you know if any problem occurs.
Please accept our apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
See you soon for the grand opening of Gandi Hosting! :D

As you know, we are getting ready to launch our hosting service this fall, and are currently fine-tuning our platform to provide you with the level of service that you have come to expect from Gandi.
Today, at 20.00 GMT (or 2:00 PM for those of you in Minnesota) we will be increasing our connectivity with the United States and Great Britain! It is therefore possible that you might experience some slight disruptions with your server(s) during the implementation of this improvement.

The involuntary rebooting of servers last night around 17:30 GMT requires a more detailed explanation. Last night, during an update that was being performed in order to improve our storage system, all the servers went into "Kernel Panic", and rebooted themselves. The update operation continued to be performed simultaneously, though of the several thousand servers it took several hours for the less fortunate ones to finish rebooting. For 99% of you, the reboot was completed around 22:00 GMT.
The situation this morning is still problematic for certain servers:
- For those that have the status "Running", but do not respond, a simple reboot via our web interface may fix the problem
- For those of you that have a "Read-only" disk, a "FSCK" on the disk is necessary via either SSH or console
- For the other cases, please send a mail to our support department, and we will take care of you this morning

We are about to proceed with a software upgrade of the hosting platform. Servers that are already running will not be impacted -- no downtime is to be expected.
The upgrade will last about one hour during which you will not be able to perform any new operations
on your server such as reboot, stop/start, disk attach/detach...
We will keep you informed as to the progress of the operation.

The problem that we encountered yesterday on a small number of servers, and that led to a slowing down of the machine, started to affect other servers this morning. We will proceed with a server-restarting operation this afternoon which will correct the problem. This operation will only take a few minutes.
