Among others, it will (finally) allow us to provide more packages more easily in the coming weeks. And yes, of course, we are going to dive deep into the ideas that you have given us in the Wishlist. Here are the changes that we have made to Gandi AI:

  •  [Mysql] Improvement of MySQL access and rights: we have deleted the root user for more security©Dora
  •  [Mysql] Leaving Gandi AI by getting root access therefore will create a MySQL root user. This is the inverse of what was previously the case, though it is for more liberty©Nicolas
  •  [Unix] Group management, this is necessary for certain packages
  •  [Apache] Addition of server aliases so that you do not need to define multiple directories to maintain just one website
  •  [Apache / Ftp] Addition of FTP access to one or multiple virtualhosts. The root directory is now /srv/[data_disk]/www/. This allows the user to see the list of websites that he/she manages (and only those).
  • [Apache] Activation of cgi-bin for vhosts, which allows using cgi scripts
  • [Apache] implementation of protected directories and thus the use of .htpasswd
  • [Apache] implementation of WebDAV to manage the transmission of HTTP files
  • [Apache/Awstat] Addition of a user/password to view statistics (also the possibility of changing its URL : see the wiki).
  • [Apache] Better configuration of Apache in relation to the number of shares your server uses, which will also free up quite a lot of memory on servers that only use one share.

Of course, we strongly recommend that you upgrade to version 1.01
The next upgrade is planned for this summer, and should see the addition of the first large packages, such as SVN, DotClear and Drupal.

In addition, if your server only has one share, we have corrected a minor problem of excessive memory usage. To fix this, you only need to reboot your server.
